January 8–10, 2027 · Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center · Roanoke, Virginia

Join Stewart Lundy and Natalie McGill at the 27th Annual Virginia Biological Farming Conference, hosted by the Virginia Association for Biological Farming (VABF). Their accepted session, Introduction to Biodynamics, draws on their work at Perennial Roots Farm to explore how a diversified farm can build fertility from within.

Introduction to Biodynamics

How do livestock, vegetables, fruit, and compost work together as one farm? Stewart and Natalie will share practical experience from Perennial Roots Farm, which they have operated in Accomac, Virginia, since 2010. Their farm brings together heritage livestock, a market garden, a CSA, and a small orchard, with compost connecting the different parts.

The session will introduce the biodynamic ideal of a farm producing its own fertility, with ideas for gardeners, homesteaders, and farmers at different scales. Questions are welcome.
