- One quart, when diluted as a spray, treats approximately 6–8 trees.
- Apply after pruning or in late fall to late winter, when temperatures are above freezing and no rain is forecast.
- Use as a brushed paste or as a diluted spray.
What it does
Biodynamic Tree Paste is used on the trunks and major limbs of woody perennials to support bark condition and tree vitality, especially after pruning or exposure to harsh weather.
Current JPI formula
JPI Tree Paste contains bentonite clay, water, fermented Equisetum (BD 508), castor oil, Pfeiffer Field & Garden Spray, basalt, and eggshells. The traditional cow-manure, clay, and sand recipe is historical background and is not the formula of the current JPI product.
Apply as a paste
- Remove loose bark from the trunk and major limbs with a wire brush or scraping tool.
- Apply to the trunk and major limbs with a whitewash brush or by hand. Heavy-duty rubber gloves are recommended.
- If needed, add only enough water to reach the consistency of thick paint.
Apply as a spray
- Dilute 1 cup of Tree Paste in 1 gallon of water.
- Stir for 20 minutes.
- Screen through a 50–60 mesh screen or paint strainer.
- Spray immediately after stirring because the contents settle quickly.
Do not apply when rain is expected; rain may wash the Tree Paste off.
