# Biodynamic Barrel Compound Preparation (BC) Spray Preparation

**What it does:**  
A convenient, ready-to-use version of the compost preparations. Helps activate soil life and balance nutrient cycles.

**How to use:**  
Stir one unit vigorously in 3 gallons of water for 20 minutes. Strain after stirring and dilute further if needed to match your sprayer calibration. Apply to the field during seedbed preparation before BD 500, in the latter part of the day. Apply BD 500 as soon as time and labor permit, and cultivate the soil afterward for best results.

**Ingredients:**  
Cow manure, crushed egg shells, basalt dust, and BD 502–507 compost preparations.

## Product Details:

Barrel Compound (or Barrel Compost) is based on Maria Thun’s recipe. It contains BD 502–507, basalt, and eggshells. It is used when access to BD compost is limited or unavailable. It should not be regarded as a long-term substitute for BD compost.

**Barrel Compound is useful between crop rotations or whenever soil is disturbed by cultivation. For field use, apply it during seedbed preparation before BD 500, following the current handout directions.**
